Youth stabbed to death by assailants in Khulna

A young man was stabbed to death by assailants in Khulna’s Nirala area on Wednesday night (September 9).

The victim was identified as Mustakin, 28, son of Shahidul of the Alkatra Mill area in Sonadanga.

He came under attack near Talukdar Community Centre in the metropolitan city around 8:30pm, police said.

According to police and local residents, Mustakin was standing near the community centre when four men arrived on two motorcycles and attacked him with sharp weapons. They stabbed him in several parts of his body before fleeing.

Locals rescued Mustakin and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Md Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station, said, "Mustakin had been using his mobile phone while standing near the community centre when the attackers stabbed him in the back and waist."

Police officers visited the scene after receiving the report, and an operation was underway to identify and arrest those involved, the OC said.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to determine the motive and identify those responsible, he added.
