A young man was stabbed to death in the Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla. Police have detained two individuals, including a teenage girl, in connection with the incident.

The killing took place in Lakshmipur village under the Chauddagram municipality on Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Sayeed Abdullah Siam, 22, was the son of Haji Enamul Haque from the same village.

The two detainees are a teenage girl acquainted with Siam and Siam's friend, Ariyan Khan.

According to the police, Siam had developed a relationship with the teenage girl after connecting with her via mobile phone. Early in the morning, when Siam asked her to leave the house, an argument broke out between them. At one stage, Siam was stabbed in the abdomen with a household knife. He was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor pronounced him dead. Local residents cornered and detained the two suspects before notifying the police.

Arif Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chauddagram Model Thana, confirmed that the suspects have confessed to the killing. He added that the knife used in the murder has been recovered from the crime scene, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
