Youth tied to tree and hacked to death in Gazipur

A young man named Jewel Rana (25) was allegedly tied to a tree, beaten and hacked to death with sharp weapons in the Khilgaon Collegepara area of Pubail Police Station in Gazipur Metropolitan area.

The incident occurred on Sunday (July 26) afternoon. Jewel Rana was a resident of Khilgaon Collegepara area.

Locals alleged that a few days ago, an arbitration meeting was held over allegations of battery theft from an easy-bike. He was fined Tk 40,000 and paid the amount. Despite this, on Sunday, several youths called him out of his home, tied him to a tree and beat him. At one point, they attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Locals later rescued him and took him to Tongi Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Pubail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Atiqur Rahman said the incident is being investigated seriously. Those involved will be identified and necessary legal action will be taken against them.
