Police on Saturday morning (August 30) have recovered the body of a youth from a lake in the capital's Banani area. The deceased has been identified as Joynal Abedin, a businessman and resident of the Karail slum. According to the police, Joynal went missing after consuming alcohol on Thursday night. Following the incident, his wife filed a general diary with Gulshan Police Station on Friday. On Saturday morning, an eyewitness spotted his body floating in the lake and informed 999. Police later recovered the body from the spot, which was subsequently identified by his relatives. Police initially suspect that Joynal drowned. Confirming the matter, Gulshan Police Station's Sub-Inspector Harun Or Rashid, said, "The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy."

রাজধানীর বনানীর একটি লেক থেকে উদ্ধার হয়েছে ব্যবসায়ী জয়নাল আবেদীনের মরদেহ। কড়াইল বস্তির বাসিন্দা ওই যুবক পানিতে ডুবে মারা গেছেন বলে প্রাথমিক ধারণা পুলিশের। পুলিশ জানায়, শনিবার (৩০ আগস্ট) সকালে ৯৯৯-এ ফোনকল পেয়ে জয়নালের মরদেহ উদ্ধারের পর ময়না তদন্তের জন্য ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠানো হয়েছে। গুলশান থানার উপ-পরিদর্শক হারুন অর রশিদ জানান, বৃহস্পতিবার (২৮ আগস্ট) রাতে মদ্যপানের পর জয়নাল নিখোঁজ হন। শুক্রবার (২৯ আগস্ট) থানায় সাধারণ ডায়েরি করেন ঘটনার পর তার স্ত্রী। সকালে একজন প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী তার মরদেহ লেকে ভাসতে দেখে ৯৯৯-এ খবর দেন। খবর পেয়ে স্বজনেরা এসে জয়নালকে শনাক্ত করেছেন বলেও জানান তিনি।
