Yunus calls for building a new Bangladesh
Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, emphasised the need for a united and inclusive Bangladesh where no religion is discriminated against and all faiths are equally respected.
During a visit to Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka to review preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festival, Dr Yunus stressed that the state must treat every religion with equal dignity and fairness.
“We envision a nation that the world will look up to and follow. To achieve the aspirations set forth in July, people of all religions must come together and work in harmony,” he stated.
The Chief Adviser warned against division, saying, “If we become divided, we will fail as a nation, and failure is not an option. We want to build a new Bangladesh where all citizens enjoy equal rights.”
On the subject of religious celebrations, Dr Yunus advocated for a free and open environment, saying, “People want to practice their faith freely—not under the watchful eyes of security forces. We aspire to create a state where religious festivals are celebrated openly and peacefully by all.”
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to impartiality, noting, “Regardless of religious differences, the government will never discriminate against anyone.”Yunus calls for building a new Bangladesh
