Yunus holds meeting with UK's National Security Adviser

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus commenced the second day of his official visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday with a meeting alongside the UK’s National Security Adviser, Jonathan Powell. The discussion concluded at 9:30 a.m. London time.

Later in the day, Professor Yunus is scheduled to meet with Ben Bland, Director of the Asia-Pacific Programme, and Dr. Chietigj Bajpaee, Senior Research Fellow for South Asia, both at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, according to UNB reports.

Professor Yunus will also deliver a keynote address at Chatham House, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder confirmed. In the afternoon, he will attend a reception hosted in his honour by the institute.

Additionally, Professor Yunus is expected to join a dinner hosted by His Majesty King Charles III to celebrate the 35th anniversary of The King’s Foundation.

The Chief Adviser arrived in London on Tuesday, marking the start of a four-day official visit focused on renewing bilateral ties with the UK, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, trade, and investment.

Upon arrival, Professor Yunus was welcomed by Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Abida Islam.

“This is a very important visit,” said Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique. He noted that Professor Yunus will hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and meet His Majesty King Charles III, among other high-level engagements.
