Yunus urges expats to join country’s reconstruction efforts
Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called on Bangladeshi expatriates to take an active role in rebuilding the nation through collaboration and meaningful contributions.
He made the remarks while attending the “NRB Connect Day – Empowering Global Bangladeshis” event in New York on Saturday (September 27).
Describing the expatriates as an inseparable part of Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus emphasised their potential role in shaping the country’s future.
At the event, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), highlighted the country’s economic progress over the past 15 months, particularly the 21%+ growth in remittances, crediting the contributions of expatriate Bangladeshis.
Leaders from BNP-Jamaat and NCP pledged to stand united on matters concerning Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, in response to the recent alleged assault on political figures at the airport by Awami League activists, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain stated that if any failure is found on the part of the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington or the New York Consulate, action will be taken.
