Zaima Rahman joins BNP meeting virtually for the first time
Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and granddaughter of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, for the first time, has taken part in an important BNP meeting.
She joined a BNP virtual meeting on Sunday, November 23, where she was seen addressing party leaders and activists.
Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Barrister AMM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, adviser to the BNP chairperson and president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, were also present.
According to party sources, Jaima’s participation has added a new dimension to the BNP’s future political landscape.
Although this was her first formal appearance in frontline politics, Zaima Rahman’s association with political activities began long ago. As a child, she was often seen accompanying her grandmother, BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, at various state and political events.
Several senior leaders believe her involvement in party meetings after completing her bar qualification is a sign of her future active role in the BNP’s leadership structure.
Many within the party think her presence in organisational activities both at home and abroad will strengthen the BNP’s political structure and enhance its international engagement.
Jaima Rahman completed her Bar-at-Law from Lincoln’s Inn in London. Earlier, she obtained her undergraduate law degree from Queen Mary University of London. Since her barrister qualification, BNP members have been expressing fresh expectations about her potential political role.
