Zaima Rahman passes Bar Council MCQ exam
Zaima Rahman, daughter of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has passed the Bangladesh Bar Council MCQ examination, the first stage of the lawyer enrolment process, according to official results published Friday night (June 12).
The results, released on the official website of the Bangladesh Bar Council Bangladesh Bar Council, show that a total of 9,201 candidates successfully cleared the MCQ test out of 37,080 applicants.
Zaima Rahman confirmed her success in a post on her verified Facebook account, expressing gratitude for passing the examination and sharing her intention to pursue legal practice in Bangladesh. She reportedly sat for the exam at the BAF Shaheen College examination centre in Dhaka.
Earlier on that day, the 100-mark MCQ examination was held as the first phase of the Bar Council enrolment process. Candidates must pass three stages — MCQ, written and viva voce — to qualify as enrolled advocates eligible to practise in lower courts.
Under the enrolment system, successful candidates who clear the written examination may proceed to the viva voce stage, which is the final step toward obtaining a law practice certificate.
Legal practitioners who complete the full process are eligible to practise in subordinate courts, while separate procedures are required for enrolment in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
