State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki has called for strict action against drugs, violence against women, and rape, stating that such crimes cannot be tolerated. He urged political leadership, administration and the general public to work together to eliminate these social ills.

The state minister made the remarks while addressing an anti-drug public rally organised by the administration at the Maulaganj Bazar Auditorium in Bancharampur upazila, Brahmanbaria, on Saturday afternoon, May 16.

Zonayed Saki said families, educational institutions and social organisations must play a more responsible role in protecting the youth from the dangers of drugs. He said drugs not only destroy individuals but also push the entire society and state towards ruin.

Law enforcement activities must be intensified to eliminate drugs, and social movements need to be built at the local level, he added. He called for ensuring that no drug dealer is given any leniency in Bancharampur.

The rally was presided over by Brahmanbaria Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Abu Sayeed. Special guests included local MP Advocate Abdul Mannan, former MP M A Khaleq, BNP leaders, and officials from the administration and law enforcement agencies.

Local BNP leaders and leaders of various political and social organisations also spoke at the rally.
