Zilqad month count to begin from April 20
The crescent moon of the month of Zilqad of 1447 Hijri was not sighted anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh today. Therefore, the month of Shawwal will complete 30 days tomorrow, Sunday, and the count of the month of Zilqad will begin from April 20.
The decision was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Baitul Mukarram conference room of the Islamic Foundation on Saturday evening.
The meeting was chaired by Munsi Alauddin Al Azad, Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision after reviewing information received from all district administrations, the Islamic Foundation's head office, divisional and district offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation (SPARSO) regarding the sighting of the moon for the holy month of Zilqad of 1447 Hijri.
Among those present at the meeting were Islamic Foundation Director General A Salam Khan, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Abdul Malek, Administrator of Bangladesh Waqf Administration Md Shahin Hossain, Chief Information Officer Yakub Ali, Principal of Dhaka Alia Madrasa Professor Mohammad Obaidul Haque, Director of Dawah and Culture Division of Islamic Foundation Dr Mohammad Harunur Rashid, Director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department Md Mominul Islam, Chief Scientific Officer of SPARSO Dr Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md Khorshed Alam Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District Waresh Ansari, Principal of Charmonai Ahsanabad Rashidia Kamil Madrasa Maulana Syed Mohammad Mosadddek Billah Al Madani, and Vice Principal of Jamiatul Ulumil Islamia Abdul Gaffar.
