Zonayed Saki demands fair probe into attack on Nur

Ganosamhati Andolon Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki has demanded a fair and immediate investigation into the attack on Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, who is now in the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He made the demand while addressing reporters after visiting Nur at the hospital on Saturday (August 30).

Zonayed Saki strongly condemned the incident, saying, “Nur and Rashed Khan were waiting for a press briefing after a Mass Rights programme when the police and joint forces attacked. Who carried out the assault and under whose direction must be identified without delay.”

He warned that attempts are being made to create uncertainty about the upcoming elections, stressing that justice, reform, and elections must move forward together. Saki also demanded an official government explanation and action over the attack.

Calling for unity, he added, “The parties united against fascism must also remain united in the democratic transformation process. No one can obstruct the path of justice and reform. If we stay united, no conspiracy will succeed.”

Rashed Khan, general secretary of the People’s Rights Council, along with leaders and activists of both organizations, were present during the briefing.
