100 detained in special crackdown in Mohammadpur-Adabar
Police have detained at least 100 people in a special crackdown targeting teenage gangs, extortionists, and snatchers in Mohammadpur and Adabar.
The operation took place between 10:00pm to 2:00am Wednesday night (February 25) across multiple locations.
Police said the arrests were part of a focused drive to curb ongoing criminal activities.
Ibn-e-Mizan, a police official, said the operation aimed to curb the rise of gangs and ensure law and order in the areas. “Such operations will continue to maintain public safety,” he added.
Authorities also noted heightened vigilance ahead of the upcoming Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr to prevent criminals from exploiting the festive period.
The operation was overseen by Mohammadpur ADC Md. Juel Rana, ACP Abdullah Al Mamun, and Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station, Mezbah Uddin, among other officials.
