A 10-day holiday is beginning at educational institutions on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, Bijoya Dashami, Probarana Purnima and Lakshmi Puja. Today, Thursday (October 15), is the last working day before the holiday.

Meanwhile, government employees are set to get five consecutive days off, combining the Durga Puja holiday with the weekend. As part of adjusting this holiday, it has been decided that government offices and courts will remain open this Saturday (October 17).

According to separate notices from educational institutions, school classes will remain suspended from October 18 to October 25. The holiday has been fixed for Durga Puja, Bijoya Dashami, Probarana Purnima and Lakshmi Puja. After the break, classes and other activities will resume from October 26 according to the scheduled timetable.

Viqarunnisa Noon School and College authorities said classes in the college section will remain suspended until October 29. From November 1, teaching for Classes XI and XII will continue according to the regular routine.

At the cabinet meeting held on October 5, a proposal for a one-day government holiday on Thursday, October 22, for Durga Puja was approved. As a result, government employees will get five consecutive days off, combining the holidays already on the government list on October 20 and 21, the additional holiday on October 22, and the weekend on October 23 and 24.

However, to maintain the continuity of the holiday, it has been decided that government offices and courts will remain open on Saturday, October 17. With this adjustment of working days and holidays, government employees will be able to enjoy five days of consecutive leave.

Durga Puja is one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community. Every year, educational institutions are given holidays alongside government holidays on this occasion. This year, as the Durga Puja and related religious festival holidays are joined by the weekend, a long break has been created for government employees.
