10-year energy roadmap to be unveiled in parliament Aug 27: PM

The government will present its plan to resolve the country's energy crisis over the next 10 years in the parliamentary session on August 27, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said.

He made the announcement at an event to provide financial assistance to the poor and destitute on the occasion of former prime minister Khaleda Zia's 82nd birthday at the T&T Colony ground in Banani on Saturday.

"BNP has a plan for the people. When the parliamentary session begins on August 27, we will present before the people how we will resolve the energy crisis in the next 10 years," he said.

The Prime Minister also challenged opposition parties to come up with their own plans. "If any of you have a plan that can resolve the crisis in three months, I will accept it. I challenge them to bring better plans than the government's. I am giving them three months — if they can resolve it within six months, I will implement every plan. But if they are only speaking to mislead the people, they must apologise to the people."

Tarique Rahman has said that the people of Bangladesh want to see a change in their destiny. They want to see their beloved motherland move forward gradually on the world stage. But to move forward and change people's fate, the 40 crore hands of the country's 20 crore people must be transformed into working hands.

The Prime Minister said misleading people is not the job or responsibility of a politician. Rather, it is their duty to teach patience and show the right path.

Commenting that the era of politics of chaos is over, Tarique Rahman said the autocratic government had practised politics of falsehood and chaos. But the current politicians have promised development to the people. Therefore, he urged them to present plans for people's welfare instead of politics of haste and confusion.

He said the days of standing on streets and vandalising are over. The people no longer support such politics.

Tarique Rahman said BNP representatives are working for the people in the Dhaka-17 constituency. Cleaning the lake next door takes six months. These are not easy tasks, but criticism is easy. Therefore, those who are busy criticising should come to the field now. Work for the people and the country; speak the truth. Refrain from words that create chaos in the country.
