11 more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Eleven more children have died from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, according to the latest report released by the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday, May 22.

During the same period, 1,315 new suspected measles cases were detected, with the same number of children admitted to hospitals.

The report said 1,261 children showed measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 60,540.

A total of 54 confirmed measles cases were detected in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, 8,329 children have been confirmed with measles.

A total of 47,511 children have been hospitalised with suspected measles since March 15, of whom 43,411 have recovered and been discharged.

Since March 15, 414 children have died from suspected measles, while 85 have died from confirmed measles. The total death toll stands at 499.
