11-party alliance announces protest programme in Dhaka
The 11-party alliance has announced a protest rally and procession in Dhaka on Saturday (April 4), demanding the implementation of the July charter and recognition of the referendum results.
Alliance coordinator Hamidur Rahman Azad made the announcement at a press briefing on Thursday (April 2) after a meeting in Gulshan.
Azad accused the ruling party of failing to manage parliament effectively and following a “fascist” path similar to that of Sheikh Hasina. He said constitutional reform should focus on improvement, not manipulation, and stressed that street protests are the only way to protect public interest.
The alliance will hold a rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Saturday evening.
Azad also criticised the government for delaying parliamentary proposals and failing to address the ongoing energy crisis.
He warned that if the government does not implement the referendum results, the alliance will convene on April 7 to outline a long-term movement strategy.
