11-party alliance collects nomination papers for Oli Ahmed in presidential election

The 11-party alliance has collected nomination forms on behalf of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Colonel (retd.) Oli Ahmed for the presidential election.

The nomination forms were collected from the office of the Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon on Monday, August 10.

After collecting the nomination forms, 11-party alliance coordinator and Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad said Colonel (retd.) Oli Ahmed is an acceptable candidate to all. He has a clean image and acceptability throughout his long political career.

He said victory or defeat is not the priority; competition itself is important. The main goal is to create an alternative before the people through competition and to create opportunities for exercising the right to vote.

Earlier, the Election Commission announced the schedule for the presidential election on August 6. According to the schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers for the presidential election is August 13.

Nomination papers can be submitted at the office of the Chief Election Commissioner from 10am to 4pm on August 13. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held at the Election Commission building from 10am on August 16.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 4pm on August 18. If contested, voting for the presidential election will be held on Thursday, August 20, from 2pm to 5pm at the Jatiya Sangsad session hall.
