11-party alliance protests post-election violence
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has begun a protest rally against post-election violence, persecution, oppression, killings and rape across the country. The programme commenced at 4:30 pm at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.
Those concerned said the parties of the 11-party electoral alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami are participating in this protest march and rally. Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar is present at the rally.
Speaking at the event, Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South Secretary General Shafiqul Islam Masud said, "On February 12, not only the parliamentary election but also the referendum was held. There will be no delay in implementing the July Charter."
He further stated, "The Bangladesh of the future will run based on the July Charter. The people have managed to drive out autocracy, so everyone must remember that."
Raising allegations of violence and oppression after the election, he claimed, "The elected party started atrocities and oppression from the very next day of the election."
Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the Baitul Mukarram north gate area centring the rally.
