11-point instructions issued to save electricity in government offices
Due to the instability in the fuel oil and gas market in wake of the ongoing war in the Middle East, the government has issued 11-point instructions for saving electricity and energy for all government, autonomous, statutory bodies, corporations and all office officials and employees.
The Cabinet Division released this instruction on Thursday. Earlier, this issue was also discussed in the cabinet meeting.
The main instructions mentioned in the instruction are:
1. Avoid using electric lights if there is sufficient daylight and use natural light by keeping windows/doors open.
2. Use half of the existing light and avoid using extra lights.
3. Keep extra lights, fans, air conditioners and other electrical appliances off during office hours.
4. Keep the temperature of the air conditioner at or above 25 degrees Celsius.
5. Turn off all electrical appliances (lights, fans, AC) when leaving the office.
6. Turn off unnecessary lights in corridors, stairs, washrooms, etc.
7. Use energy-efficient appliances.
8. Turn off all electrical appliances (computers, printers, scanners, air conditioners, etc.) after office hours.
9. Avoid all lighting.
10. Limit the use of vehicles.
11. Be economical in fuel consumption.
The directive has asked all relevant departments and organizations to implement these instructions and all secretaries, commissioners, district administrators and cabinet department officials have been given the responsibility of supervising this matter.
