12 KU students nominated for Prime Minister's Gold Medal
A total of 12 students of Khulna University (KU) have been nominated for the Prime Minister's Gold Medal for the academic years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
This information was revealed in a notification issued on Monday (October 5) and signed by Md. Omar Faruk, Director of the Research Grant and Award Division of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.
Of the 12 KU students, six were selected for the 2019 academic year, five for 2020 and one for 2021, reports BSS.
The six students selected for 2019 are Nazmus Sakif of Computer Science and Engineering with a CGPA of 3.96, Tamalika Bala of Business Administration (3.75), Maisha Maliha Medha of Pharmacy (3.95), Tabassum Ema of Printmaking (3.81), Sadananda Mondal of Bangla (3.50) and Mukta Akter of Economics (3.89).
The five students selected for 2020 are Md Mehedi Hasan Russell of Mathematics (3.94), Alamgir Hossain of Human Resource Management (3.93), Pratyasha Shikdar of Pharmacy (3.95), T M Rafat Rahman of English (3.52) and Sudipta Debnath of Mass Communication and Journalism (3.94).
Tanaz Kabir of English, with a CGPA of 3.67, was selected for the 2021 academic year.
The Prime Minister's Gold Medal is awarded to recognise outstanding academic achievements of meritorious students at the university level and encourage them to pursue higher education and research. The UGC has been awarding the medal since 2005.
KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim congratulated the 12 students on their achievement, said a KU press release issued this morning.
In a congratulatory message, he said the recognition was a significant acknowledgement of the academic excellence of students from different disciplines of the university.
He expressed hope that their success would inspire other students to achieve better academic results and become more engaged in knowledge-building and research.
KU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nurunnabi and Acting Registrar Professor Dr S M Mahbubur Rahman also congratulated the students.
