14 police officers of DIG, SP ranks transferred simultaneously

Fourteen senior officials of the Bangladesh Police holding the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional DIG, and Superintendent of Police (SP) have been transferred simultaneously. The orders for these transfers and postings were issued through separate notifications by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (July 21).

The reshuffle at the higher tier of the police administration was announced in three separate notifications signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed of the Ministry of Home Affairs by order of the President.

According to the notifications, DIG of Mymensingh Range Md. Ataul Kibria has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police as DIG. In his place, Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner (DIG) Mohammad Zahidul Hasan has been posted as the DIG of Mymensingh Range.

In addition, Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner (DIG) Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury has been transferred as the DIG of Chattogram Range. Meanwhile, DIG of Police Headquarters Md. Sarwar Murshed Shamim has been appointed as the new Commissioner (DIG) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

At the same time, the previous transfer order of CID DIG Mia Masud Karim to APBN has been canceled. The order issued on June 28 was revoked through the new notification.

In another notification, several Additional DIGs and Superintendents of Police have been attached to various Range DIG offices. Among them, Additional DIG of Police Staff College Nasiyan Wajed has been attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office, Additional DIG of Rajshahi In-Service Training Center Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman to the Khulna Range DIG office, and Additional DIG of Tourist Police Md. Apel Mahmud to the Rajshahi Range.

Furthermore, Superintendent of Police A. F. M. Nizam Uddin from the TR post at Police Headquarters and Special Superintendent of Police of SB Tahsin Masruf Hossain Masfi have been attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office. CID Superintendent of Police Mir Abu Tauhid has been attached to the Chittagong Range DIG office.

In a separate notification, Additional DIG of the Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) Sharif Uddin Ahmed has been transferred to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Additional DIG of Industrial Police Md. Kafil Uddin has been posted to Police Headquarters.

Additionally, Superintendent of Police of Pabna District Md. Chufi Ullah has been transferred as Special Superintendent of Police at CID. In his place, Anti Terrorism Unit Superintendent of Police Abu Asraf has been assigned as the new Superintendent of Police of Pabna.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that this high-level police administration reshuffle was carried out to enhance administrative dynamism and serve the public interest.
