1,490 appointed to various cadres through 44th BCS
The government has appointed 1,490 candidates to different cadres through the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination. The appointment orders were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration nearly seven months after the final recommendation was made by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).
The appointment gazette was issued by the ministry’s New Appointments Wing on Thursday (February 5) and made public on Friday (February 6).
Among the newly appointed officers, 244 have been placed in the Administration Cadre, 48 in the Police Cadre, 9 in the Foreign Service Cadre, and 29 in the Audit and Accounts Cadre, alongside appointments in several other cadres.
According to the gazette, the appointees must report to the designated posting authorities of their respective cadre-controlling ministries by 9 February. Unless otherwise instructed by the cadre-controlling ministry, they are required to join within the stipulated timeframe.
According to the gazette, any candidate who fails to join within the stipulated time will be deemed unwilling to take up the appointment, and their appointment letter will be considered cancelled.
The gazette also states that the authorities reserve the right to amend or revoke the appointment order if any adverse or contradictory information about an appointed officer emerges after recruitment.
It may be recalled that on 30 June last year, the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) published the final results of the 44th BCS. The PSC had recommended 1,690 candidates for appointment against 1,710 vacant posts across various cadres.
