Fifty seats for students aged 12 and under already exist in the National Parliament gallery. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon wrote to the speaker requesting an additional 100 seats for students in the visitor gallery. The speaker approved the request.

The education ministry disclosed the information on Friday, April 10.

The ministry said more students will now be able to directly observe parliament proceedings, which will familiarise future generations with parliamentary and democratic practices.

The education minister said, "Martyr President Ziaur Rahman used to take students on naval cruises so they could learn about the country's resources and potential. As education minister, I want Gen-Z to learn about the state and become politically aware."

When the education minister approached National Parliament Secretary Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, the secretary welcomed the initiative. The parliament secretary said students will be briefed about parliament before the session begins when they visit, allowing them to learn about the architecture, history and traditions of the country's parliament.
