151-member convening committee announced with Tarique Rahman included
The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal has announced a 151-member central convening committee of the Nationalist Generation of the Liberation War. Of these, the names of 101 members have been partially disclosed. The announced committee includes BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman as member number one and the late Arafat Rahman Koko as member number two.
In a press release signed by Bir Muktijoddha Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, president of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal central committee, it was stated that the convening committee was announced with the approval of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. All previously announced district and metropolitan committees have also been dissolved.
The press release further said that all leaders and activists of the Nationalist Generation of the Liberation War have been instructed to actively participate in the upcoming national parliamentary election activities in coordination with the district and metropolitan presidents and general secretaries of the Muktijoddha Dal.
Earlier, on November 24, 2025, a 101-member central convening committee of the Nationalist Generation of the Liberation War was announced, with BNP leader and Dhaka-6 constituency parliamentary candidate Engineer Ishraque Hossain as convenor and Advocate KM Kamruzzaman Nannu as member secretary.
Convenor Engineer Ishraque Hossain said that at this critical time, a certain group is attempting to demean the great Liberation War for political gain. He said the Nationalist Generation of the Liberation War will work firmly to present the true history of the country’s birth to the new generation and will politically and socially resist all attempts at distorting history.
He also said that the father of Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko, martyred president Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, declared independence at great personal and family risk and led the war on the battlefield. In the same way, his own father, Bir Muktijoddha Sadeque Hossain Khoka, along with hundreds of thousands of freedom fighters, sacrificed personal safety to defeat the Pakistani forces and achieve Bangladesh’s independence.
Ishraque Hossain said the Nationalist Generation of the Liberation War will work tirelessly to ensure due recognition and honour for all martyred and living freedom fighters. Member Secretary Advocate KM Kamruzzaman Nannu said the new convening committee will further energise the organisation’s future activities, playing a vital role in organising the Liberation War generation, strengthening organisational capacity and spreading the party’s ideology among the younger generation.
