17 deputy secretaries recommended for punishment

Seventeen deputy secretaries have been recommended for various punishments after being found guilty of creating unprecedented chaos regarding the appointment of new deputy commissioners (DCs) across the country.

Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman, senior secretary of the Public Administration Ministry, announced this during a briefing in the ministry's conference room at the Secretariat on Monday.

He said, "In the case of chaos in the secretariat regarding the District Administrator (DC) post, the investigation committee formed for the incident has recommended punishment for 17 deputy secretaries."

On September 10, Deputy Secretary officials caused chaos in the Secretariat, demanding the appointment of Deputy Commissioners.

After a few hours of disruption, they entered Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain's room around 5:30 PM, where the turmoil continued. They eventually left the cabinet secretary's room around 6 PM after receiving assurances about their postings as DCs.
