17 expelled, over 27,000 absent on second day of HSC exams

On the second day of the HSC and equivalent examinations, 17 examinees were expelled across the country for adopting unfair means. Additionally, 27,327 students were absent in the 11 education boards on the first day of the exams. Earlier, on the first day, 24,784 students were absent and 7 were expelled.

On Saturday, July 4, the examinations held were Bengali (compulsory) second paper under nine general boards, Arabic first paper and Arabic literature under the Madrasa Board, and English-2 under the Technical Board.

The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said the exams were conducted smoothly at 2,691 centres across the country, excluding eight centres abroad.

According to the committee, a total of 10,30,806 examinees were scheduled to take exams at 2,691 centres under 11 education boards across the country. Of these, 10,03,479 students appeared.

Among the 17 expelled students, the Madrasa Board had the highest number with 7, the Technical Board with 3, and the nine general boards with 7.

Under the nine general education boards (Dhaka, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Jashore, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Dinajpur and Mymensingh), a total of 8,60,764 examinees were scheduled at 1,620 centres. Of these, 8,41,125 appeared, and 19,639 were absent.

Under the Madrasa Education Board, 84,293 examinees were scheduled at 460 centres for the Arabic first paper and Arabic literature exams. Of these, 79,091 appeared, and 5,202 were absent. This board saw the highest number of expulsions, with 7 students expelled.

Under the Technical Education Board, 85,749 examinees were scheduled at 611 centres for the English-2 exam. Of these, 83,263 appeared, and 2,486 were absent. Three students were expelled from this board.

The overall examination situation across the country was satisfactory and peaceful, the notification added.
