There is no fuel crisis in the country, and more fuel will arrive in the coming days, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said. He shared the information during an exchange of views with journalists at the Secretariat on Tuesday, April 28, regarding the progress of various government activities.

The adviser said the country currently has 170,000 metric tons of diesel in stock, and an additional 180,000 metric tons of diesel will arrive by April 30.

Dismissing reports of long queues at pumps, he said fuel supply is normal and no long lines are being seen at fuel pumps anywhere in the country. There is no risk of a crisis in the current situation.

In response to a question about militant activities in the country, the information adviser said some risks of militancy still exist in Bangladesh. However, there is no reason to panic about the current situation. Just as there was exaggerated propaganda on this issue in the past, it is also not realistic to completely deny the risk. However, the situation has not reached a point where the general public needs to panic.

The adviser also mentioned a positive change regarding border deaths. He noted that the number of border killings has decreased by nearly 75 per cent in recent times.

Dr Zahed further said diplomatic efforts with the neighbouring country are being intensified to bring border killings down to zero. The government is giving the highest importance to the matter.
