172 officials promoted to Joint Secretary rank

A total of 172 Deputy Secretaries have been promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary in the public administration. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding these promotions on Thursday (July 9).

The newly promoted officials have been appointed as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) attached to the Ministry of Public Administration. However, no separate order has been issued yet regarding their specific postings.

This marks the first large-scale promotion in the civil administration since the BNP government assumed office.

Earlier in January this year, 118 officials of Joint Secretary rank were promoted to the position of Additional Secretary. Additionally, multiple rounds of promotions, including some retrospective elevations, were granted to over a hundred officials to the rank of Joint Secretary at various times during the previous government's tenure.
