21 judges sworn in as permanent HC justices

Twenty-one judges, appointed after the July mass uprising, were sworn in as permanent High Court judges on Wednesday (November 12) at the Supreme Court’s Judges’ Lounge.

Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed administered the oath, while Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee conducted the ceremony.

Judges from the Appellate and High Court divisions were also present there.

Earlier, of the 23 additional judges appointed post-July, 22 were made permanent. Among them, Justice Syed Enayet Hossain was absent due to illness.

BNP leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury’s son, Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury, was not made permanent as he is under 45; he will be appointed later.

The new permanent judges include Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, Justice Syed Enayet Hossain, Justice Md Mansur Alam, Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur, Justice K M Rasheduzzaman Raja, Justice Md Jabid Hossain, Justice Mubina Asaf, Justice Kazi Waliul Islam, Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua, Justice Md Abdul Mannan, Justice Tamanna Rahman Khalidi, Justice Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood, Justice Md Hamidur Rahman, Justice Nasreen Akter, Justice Shathika Hossain, Justice Syed Mohammed Tazrul Hossain, Justice Md Toufiq Inam, Justice Yousuf Abdullah Suman, Justice Sk Tahsin Ali, Justice Foyej Ahmed, Justice Md Sagir Hossain, and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi.
