2,150 foreign guests attend 58th Bishwa Ijtema in Tongi

As of Friday morning (January 31), 2,150 foreign guests from 72 countries took part in the first phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema, currently underway at the Ijtema Maidan on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur.

They are staying in designated areas, attending sermons by scholars from home and abroad.

Shurayi Nezam Media Coordinator Habibullah Raihan confirmed the number, noting that the figure is expected to rise as the event progresses.

On Friday, Maulana Zia ul Haq Sahib of Pakistan delivered a sermon after Fajr, and Maulana Jamal Sahib of India led a discussion before the Talim session at 9:45am.

Other sermons followed, including one by Maulana Farahim on the teachers' pulpit, Professor Abdul Mannan Sahib of Aligarh on the prayer pulpit, and Maulana Akbar Sharif Sahib of India at the Khawachh (important persons) mosque.

The 58th Bishwa Ijtema is being held in two phases. The first phase will run from January 31 to February 2, with participation from 41 districts and parts of Dhaka. The second phase will take place from February 3 to February 5, involving 22 districts and the rest of Dhaka.
