23 Saad followers granted bail in Ijtema clash case

The High Court has granted anticipatory bail to 23 individuals, including Saad follower Syed Wasiful Islam, in connection with a clash at the Ijtema grounds that led to the deaths of four people.

A division bench of the High Court granted them bail on Wednesday (January 8) until the police report is submitted.

Earlier, on December 23, they filed for anticipatory bail in the High Court.

On December 19, SM Alam Hossain, a follower of Maulana Zubair, lodged a case against 25 individuals with the Tongi West Police Station.

The clash between two factions of Tablighi Jamaat on the morning of December 18 resulted in the deaths of four people. In response, the Dhaka and Gazipur Metropolitan Police imposed a ban on public access to the Bishwa Ijtema grounds, which was lifted on the evening of January 2.
