The government on Saturday promoted a total of 240 senior assistant secretaries to the rank of deputy secretary. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette to announce these promotions on Saturday. As customary, the promoted officials have been designated as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) within the Ministry of Public Administration. Last year, the government has promoted 259 officials to the rank of deputy secretary. Reports say that last year there were more than 1,800 deputy secretaries which were almost double the sanctioned posts in the civil bureaucracy.

উপসচিব হিসেবে জনপ্রশাসনের ২৪০ কর্মকর্তাকে পদোন্নতি দিয়েছে সরকার। জ্যেষ্ঠ সহকারী সচিব পদমর্যাদার এই কর্মকর্তাদের উপসচিব হিসেবে পদোন্নতি দিয়ে আজ শনিবার (১১ নভেম্বর) আদেশ জারি করেছে জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়। পদোন্নতি দিয়ে রেওয়াজ অনুযায়ী তাদের ওএসডি করা হয়েছে। আলাদা আদেশে পরে তাদের পদায়ন করা হবে। বর্তমান সরকারের মেয়াদে জনপ্রশাসনের কর্মকর্তারা বড় ধরনের পদোন্নতি পেলেন। জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের কর্মকর্তারা জানান, উপসচিবের স্থায়ী পদ আছে সাড়ে আটশর মতো। এই পদে নতুন করে পদোন্নতি দেওয়ায় বর্তমানে উপসচিবের সংখ্যা বেড়েছে।
