249 more hospitalised with dengue in 24 hours

A total of 249 more people were hospitalised with dengue fever across the country in the past 24 hours. However, no deaths from the mosquito-borne disease were reported during this period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS provided the information in its regular dengue update on Friday, August 7.

According to the health directorate's data, of the 249 patients admitted in the 24 hours from Thursday morning, 73 were hospitalised in the Dhaka North City Corporation area, 27 in the Dhaka South City Corporation area, and 39 outside the two city corporations.

Additionally, 67 patients were hospitalised in Chattogram Division, 23 in Khulna Division, 17 in Mymensingh Division, and 3 in Rangpur Division.

The DGHS said the last recorded dengue deaths were three on August 3. Since then, no deaths have been reported in the last four consecutive days.

So far this year, 59 people have died from dengue, including five in August.

According to the DGHS tally, a total of 18,129 patients have been hospitalised with dengue from January 1 to date this year. Of them, 16,789 have recovered and been discharged from hospital. In the last 24 hours, 249 patients were released.
