25 additional judges to take oath at Supreme Court this noon

Twenty-five additional judges appointed to the High Court Division of the Supreme Court are set to take their oath of office today (Tuesday).

The oath-taking ceremony will be held at 1:30 PM in the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court, where Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will administer the oath.

The appointments were officially notified on Monday by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs.

According to the notification, under Article 95(1) of the Constitution and in consultation with the Chief Justice, the President has appointed 25 individuals as additional judges of the High Court Division for a term not exceeding two years, effective from the date of their oath-taking.

The newly appointed judges include prominent lawyers, senior officials from the Law and Justice Division, deputy attorney generals, and district judges from across the country. Among them are Md. Anwarul Islam (Shaheen), Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Nurul Islam, Sheikh Abu Taher, Aziz Ahmad Bhuiyan, Rajiuddin Ahmed, Faisal Hasan Arif, S.M. Saiful Islam, Md. Asif Hasan, Md. Ziaul Haque, Dihidar Masum Kabir, Jesmin Ara Begum, Murad-e-Mowla Sohel, Md. Zakir Hossain, Md. Rafizul Islam, Md. Monjur Alam, Md. Lutfor Rahman, Rezaul Karim, Fatema Anwar, Mahmud Hasan, Abdur Rahman, Syed Hasan Jubair, A.F.M. Saiful Karim, Urmi Rahman, and S.M. Iftekhar Uddin Mahmud.

This move aims to strengthen the judiciary and ensure timely dispensation of justice across the country.
