26m cft gas added to national grid
The national gas grid has received about 26 million cubic feet of gas daily from the Habiganj-5 well operated by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL).
Petrobangla issued a press release in this regard on Wednesday (December 3).
The release said that BGFCL, a subsidiary of Petrobangla, has undertaken a project with the Gas Development Fund (GDF) and the company's own funding to increase production and ensure safe, uninterrupted gas supply by working over 7 wells in the Titas, Habiganj, Bakhrabad and Meghna gas fields.
As part of this project, Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (Bapex) completed the workover of the Habiganj-5 well using its Bijoy-11 rig.
Before the workover, the well was producing 14 million cubic feet of gas daily, with a pressure of 1521 psi. This work began on October 24 and was completed on December 2. Since December 3, the well has been supplying 26 million cubic feet of gas to the national grid daily.
As a result of the workover, an additional 12 million cubic feet of gas per day has been added to the national energy supply, playing a significant role in meeting the country's energy needs.
