3 deputy secretaries appointed as assistant seasonal Hajj officers
Three Deputy Secretaries of the Ministry of Religious Affairs have been appointed as Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officers in Saudi Arabia. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (April 6).
According to the notification, Deputy Secretary (Grants and Branches) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. Ruhul Amin has been appointed as Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officer (Country-based) in the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Jeddah, Deputy Secretary (Hajj-2 Branch) Md. Rafiqul Islam has been appointed as Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officer (Country-based) in the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Medina, and Deputy Secretary (Hajj-1 Branch) Mohammad Shafiuzzaman Bhuiyan has been appointed as Assistant Seasonal Hajj Officer (Country-based) in the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Mecca. Their jobs have been assigned to the Ministry of Religious Affairs to perform these duties.
According to sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the main task of the Seasonal Hajj Officers is to provide overall services to Bangladeshi pilgrims staying in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season and assist in administrative work. They supervise the security and services of pilgrims in various places including Mecca, Medina, Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah.
Their responsibilities include taking measures to resolve any problems with accommodation, transportation or other issues of pilgrims, inspecting the accommodation of pilgrims under private management and ensuring facilities. In addition, they also perform various administrative duties as per the instructions of the Hajj administrative team or councilor.
In addition, providing necessary guidance to pilgrims and providing administrative support in various formal activities of Hajj is also part of their work.
The Ministry of Religion further said that these officials usually perform their duties in Saudi Arabia for a specific period and during this time they receive additional allowances. However, they cannot participate in the religious ceremonies of Hajj.
The holy Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on May 26, subject to the sighting of the moon. This year's Hajj flights will start from April 18. This year, a total of 78,500 people will perform Hajj from Bangladesh under government and private management.
