3 DU students accused of assaulting women at TSC
Three students of University of Dhaka have been suspended for six months for allegedly harassing two women on the night of February 24 near the TSC area of the campus.
The information was released through a press statement from the university’s Public Relations Office on Tuesday (March 10).
The suspension order was issued by Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed under the powers granted by university regulations, following recommendations from the investigation committee.
The suspended students are: Shahriar Islam Tushar of the Department of Theater and Performance Studies, Rakib Ahmed of the Department of World Religions and Cultures, and Shahriar Tanzil of the Department of Anthropology.
According to the statement, in the early hours of February 24, two women and two men were harassed near the TSC area. The investigation committee, formed after the incident, verified the allegations, and based on its recommendation, the university administration took the disciplinary action against the three students.
The administration emphasized that the decision aligns with its zero-tolerance policy to ensure the safety of women and the general public on campus. The suspension order took effect immediately from Tuesday.
