3 killed, 300 injured in over 200 post-election violence: HRSS
At least three people were killed and more than 300 others injured in over 200 incidents of violence reported across 30 districts in the two days following the 13th National Parliamentary Election, according to Human Rights Support Society (HRSS).
The information was disclosed at a press conference held at the National Press Club by the organisation on Sunday (February 15).
HRSS Executive Director Ejazul Islam said two youth were killed in separate incidents in Munshiganj and Bagerhat, while a child was killed in Mymensingh.
He also mentioned an allegation of rape in Noakhali linked to post-election unrest.
According to the organisation, activists and supporters of BNP, Jamaat and independent candidates were involved in the violence. HRSS said attacks and arson targeted at least 350 business establishments, offices and residential houses.
The 13th National Parliamentary Election and a referendum were held on February 12.
