3 killed as truck crushes auto-rickshaw in Gazipur

Three people, including a four-year-old child, were killed in Kaliganj, Gazipur, when a drum truck ran over a CNG auto-rickshaw. Two other members of the same family were injured in the tragic accident.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am. at Dewpara intersection on the Kaliganj-Tongi-Ghorashal road.

The deceased have been identified as Oliullah, 40, son of Nurul Haque of Dashdona village, Monohardi Upazila, Narsingdi; Abu Taleb, 27, son of the late Shukkur Mahmud of Paglipur village, Tarakanda Upazila, Mymensingh; and Tanim, the four-year-old son of Hafizur Rahman from Sirajganj.

The injured, Hafizur Rahman, 40, and his wife Salma Begum, 35, were initially admitted to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for advanced treatment.

Kaliganj police officer-in-charge Alauddin confirmed the accident. Sub-Inspector Russel Mia said the drum truck, loaded with bricks and coming from the Ghorashal side of Narsingdi, collided with the CNG auto-rickshaw traveling towards Narsingdi. Two passengers died instantly at the scene, while the child succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in Sreepur.
