3 more children die with measles symptoms, death toll reaches 840

The measles outbreak in the country remains alarming. Three more children have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of deaths from measles and its symptoms across the country has risen to 840.

The Directorate General of Health Services provided this information in its updated measles situation report published on Saturday (August 1).

According to the report, 872 new patients with measles symptoms were detected in the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 121 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the total number of patients infected with measles or its symptoms so far stands at 145,241. Of them, 16,180 have been confirmed through testing, while 129,061 have shown symptoms.

Meanwhile, a total of 111,674 patients have been hospitalised with measles and its symptoms so far. Of them, 107,397 have recovered and been discharged.

The Directorate General of Health Services has urged parents to ensure timely vaccination of children to prevent measles transmission, and to seek immediate medical attention from nearby health centres if symptoms such as fever, rash or other measles signs appear.
