3 more die with measles symptoms, 943 infected in a day

Three more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 886 new cases of measles-like symptoms were reported, while 57 more people were confirmed with measles through tests. Two of the deceased were residents of Dhaka division.

The information was provided in the regular measles situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday, August 29.

According to the DGHS, a total of 864 people have died with measles symptoms since March 15, while 99 more have died after being confirmed with measles. In total, the death toll from both measles symptoms and confirmed measles has reached 963.

Meanwhile, 57 new cases of confirmed measles were detected in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 18,853.

On the other hand, with 886 new cases of measles-like symptoms in a single day, the total number of such patients since March 15 has reached 155,678. A large number of these patients have required hospitalisation.

According to the DGHS, a total of 136,257 patients with measles symptoms have been hospitalised during this period. After treatment, 131,264 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
