3 more die with measles symptoms, total death toll reaches 1,012
Three more people have died with measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours. However, no deaths from confirmed measles were reported during this period.
The information was provided in the Directorate General of Health Services' measles-related bulletin on Friday, September 11. The bulletin covered the 24-hour period from 8am on Thursday to 8am on Friday.
According to the DGHS, a total of 1,012 people have died from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms since April 10. Of them, 912 died with measles symptoms and 100 died after confirmed measles infection.
Meanwhile, 1,077 new cases of measles-like symptoms were reported across the country in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 169,822 people have shown measles symptoms since April 10.
During the same period, 34 new confirmed measles cases were detected, bringing the total number of confirmed measles patients to 19,967 since April 10.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of deaths with measles symptoms, with 408 fatalities so far. This was followed by Sylhet division with 157 deaths, Rajshahi with 93, Mymensingh with 77, Chattogram with 68, Barishal with 57, Khulna with 38 and Rangpur division with 14.
According to DGHS estimates, Dhaka division is the worst affected in terms of deaths with measles symptoms.
