The investigation committee formed by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has found evidence against three police officers in the harassment case of national cricketer Nayeem Hasan. The committee has recommended departmental proceedings and disciplinary action against them, along with seven strategic recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.

CMP Deputy Commissioner (West) Md Alamgir Hossain, head of the probe committee, submitted the report to Police Commissioner Hasan Md Shoukat Ali on Sunday evening, June 28. The commissioner later confirmed that the investigation found evidence of harassment against three Khulshi Police Station personnel. Their conduct was termed unprofessional and against discipline, and the committee recommended departmental action.

Two of the accused officers were temporarily suspended following the incident. The report also made seven recommendations, including strengthening behavioural and human rights training for police personnel, regular briefings, increasing professionalism and ensuring swift punishment for misconduct.

Regarding the claim that the vehicle was searched on suspicion of gold smuggling based on intelligence, the police commissioner declined to comment on the source of that information.

On the night of June 12, after Nayeem Hasan returned to Chattogram from Dhaka, police stopped his auto-rickshaw in the Lalkhan Bazar area. According to the complaint, Khulshi Police Station Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam and police informant Sohel dragged him out of the vehicle, assaulted him and later took him to the police station for further harassment. He was released after the intervention of Bangladesh Cricket Board officials.

The police commissioner visited Nayeem's residence the following day and formed a three-member probe committee.
