3 police officers withdrawn over alleged links with drug dealers

Three police officers of Savar Model Police Station have been withdrawn on charges links with top drug trafficker Shamim Hossain in Savar. They have been attached to the police lines.

Dhaka District Police Superintendent Shamima Parveen informed reporters after visiting Savar Model Police Station on Monday (May 25) afternoon.

The withdrawn officers are Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Monir and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) Asifur and Meraj.

The Police Superintendent said that the three officers were immediately withdrawn and attached to the police lines as the allegations of having contact with drug trafficker Shamim were proven. Departmental action will be taken against them.

Regarding the attack on journalists, he said that the police conducted a drive immediately after the incident and arrested four people. In addition, the stolen cameras and mobile phones have been recovered and a drive is underway to arrest the accused named in the complaint.

The Superintendent of Police also said that the police have taken special measures to ensure the safety of people staying at home ahead of Eid. Patrols have been intensified to prevent theft and robbery in empty houses.

Three days ago, three journalists from Desh TV and SA TV were attacked while collecting news at the hideout of top drug dealer Shamim in the Rajashan area of ​​Savar. A case has been registered against Shamim as the main accused in this incident, along with 21 other unidentified people. However, the police have not yet been able to arrest the main accused Shamim.
