Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said that 30 lakh deceased voters have been removed from the updated voter list.

He said that the voter list is currently being updated across the country using a biometric method. However, the final voter list will be published in June.

He made these remarks at an event held on Sunday (March 2) to observe Voter's Day.

Abul Fazlul Mohammad Sanaullah said, "Due to legal obligations, the final voter list has been published based on 2024's information. However, the data collected door-to-door will be added again, and deceased voters will be removed."

He further said, "A supplementary voter list will be created, and after coordinating with this list, the final voter list will be published by June 30."

Urging participation in the election, the Election Commissioner said, "Elections should be a transparent process and a celebration involving everyone." He added, "We do not want to witness bloodshed, violence, looting, ballot paper theft, or the influence of power."

He expressed hope that "the new voter list will be transparent and acceptable to all."
