330 police officers to get jobs back after 19 years
The government has withdrawn the order that cancelled the recruitment of police sergeants and sub-inspectors (unarmed) in 2007 on 'political grounds'. As a result, 123 police sergeants and 207 sub-inspectors (unarmed) selected in that recruitment process will now have the opportunity to join service.
An order issued by the Police Branch-2 of the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday, Monday, March 16, conveyed this information. The notification stated that the recruitment of sergeants and SIs selected in 2006 was cancelled in 2007 on 'political grounds'.
This order has now been withdrawn. A decision has been taken to appoint the selected candidates to government service under specified conditions.
According to the conditions, the appointees' seniority will be determined retrospectively from the date they would have normally joined service had the recruitment process not been cancelled in 2007. However, no financial benefits will be provided for this period.
Additionally, the basic training period for the appointees has been set at six months, with a probationary period of maximum two years.
The notification further stated that the gradation list for the relevant batch will be determined following the results of written and oral examinations and the regulations issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The Inspector General of Police has been instructed to take necessary measures in this regard.
