A three-month nationwide 'Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026' is starting tomorrow, Saturday, as dengue outbreaks increase in the capital and other parts of the country. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally inaugurate the programme at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 9am.

The information was conveyed in a notification signed by Chief Information Officer of the Information Department Syed Abdal Ahmed.

Under this special government campaign, cleanliness activities will be intensified in the capital and various parts of the country to prevent the spread of dengue. Alongside this, emphasis will be placed on destroying Aedes mosquito breeding grounds and raising public awareness.

As stagnant water during the monsoon is a major source of Aedes mosquito breeding, emphasis is being placed on keeping houses, educational institutions, government and private offices and the surroundings of various establishments clean on a regular basis.

The rising dengue outbreak has also put pressure on the healthcare system. In this situation, a three-month special campaign has been undertaken to bring the spread of dengue under control through coordinated cleanliness and mosquito control activities across the country.
