4 more deaths with measles symptoms, total fatalities 983

The Directorate General of Health Services has informed that four more people have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours in the country. With this, a total of 983 people have died in the country after being infected with measles and measles symptoms since March 15.

This information was given in the regular press release published by the Directorate General of Health Services on the measles situation on Wednesday (September 2). It has been said in the press release that among the four who died in the last 24 hours (from 8am on Tuesday to 8am on Wednesday), three are from Dhaka Division and one from Mymensingh Division.

According to the calculation of the Directorate General of Health Services, 884 people have died with measles symptoms from March 15 until now. And 99 people have died after measles was detected in the test.

Meanwhile, measles symptoms have appeared among another 1,034 people across the country in the last 24 hours. In the same period, measles infection has been confirmed in the bodies of 63 people.

From March 15 to Wednesday, the number of suspected measles patients in the country has stood at 1 lakh 60 thousand 184. Among them, measles has been confirmed in 19 thousand 447 people. During this period, 1 lakh 40 thousand 472 people have been hospitalized and 1 lakh 35 thousand 417 people have received discharge after recovering after treatment.

Age-based information of the patients has not been published in the regular statistics of the Directorate General of Health Services. According to epidemiologists, measles can occur at any age, but the risk of children being infected is higher. The deaths that occur with measles symptoms during the outbreak are included in the calculation of measles deaths.
