4 more fuel-laden ships arrive at Ctg port
Four more ships carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG), LPG and gas oil have arrived at Chattogram Port. These ships have anchored at various jetties of the port and the process of unloading the fuel is currently underway.
Port Authority Secretary Syed Refaet Hamim confirmed this information on Monday afternoon (April 6).
According to port sources, these ships have arrived from India, Malaysia, Nigeria and China. An Indian ship carrying LPG arrived at the port on March 31 and is currently at the ‘Bhatiyari’ area. The ‘Shan Gang Fa Xian’ ship carrying gas oil from Malaysia arrived at the port on April 3 and is at the ‘DOJ-6’ jetty; unloading is scheduled to be completed by April 7.
The ‘Cool Voyager’ ship carrying LNG from Nigeria arrived at the port on April 5 and is at the ‘FSRU’; the unloading process will be completed by April 8. The LPG tanker ‘Gas Journey’ from China arrived at the port on April 5 and is in the ‘Charlie’ area; the LPG unloading is scheduled to be completed by April 8.
The port authorities said that the import of crude oil (Brent crude) has been stopped due to the US and Israeli attacks and clashes in Iran. As of March 31, 38 ships have arrived at the port with various types of fuel oil. Six more ships have arrived in the week of April.
In addition, the oil tanker ‘Shan Gang Fa Jian’ from Malaysia arrived at the outer anchorage of the port at 10pm carrying 34,000 tons of diesel on Friday (April 3). On the same day, a ship named ‘MT Yuan Jing He’ arrived at the port with 27,300 tons of diesel. This is the ninth ship to arrive at the port with diesel since the outbreak of the war situation in the Middle East.
